"From Candidate to Member"
Vistage is the world's largest and leading executive coaching organization for small and midsize businesses. For more than 65 years, we've been helping CEOs, business owners, and key executives solve their toughest challenges through a comprehensive approach to success.
When you take the steps to go from candidate to member this means you will need to get interviewed, selected, and appointed to a Vistage Peer Advisory Board. The end result is you are opening the door to a plethora of resources and benefits for your organization. It's not just for you.
A few of the experiences you will be able to tap into once appointed are:
Monthly Peer Group meetings: Expert speakers are brought in to wrestle with new thinking and provide new tools and strategies. These are not keynote presentations. The speakers, flown in from all over the world, are the best in their field, and they will address your peer group of 16-20 leaders.
One-to-one executive coaching: The Vistage Chair leads monthly, one-on-one executive coaching sessions with members to reinforce learning, review commitments, and ensure accountability for personal and business growth.
Fitz also leads an HR/Culture Keepers Forum: This forum is designed for those within your organization who are in charge of hiring, culture, and organizational development. Unlike the local SHRM association, this forum offers your leaders in this area the opportunity to join a group of peers to advance their learning and tap into the wisdom of their own tribe. (This forum meets quarterly by Zoom.)
One of Fitz's colleagues leads a Sales/Marketing Forum: This forum is designed for those within your organization that are involved in sales or marketing. They meet online and the facilitator brings in experts from our local membership to bring new perspectives, ideas and tactical tools to use. The content of this forum is created from the needs of the attendees.
Coaching and programs for your staff: There are various ways that CEOs bring their leaders and key employees into the Vistage experience. Whether it's a private one-to-one session with Fitz or ongoing scheduled "Leadership Dialog Zoom Session" with your team, Fitz ensures that Vistage is for the whole organization, not just for you. Vistage also has programs for the Emerging Leader and Advancing Leader as well as "Vistage Inside" which is a program for our larger companies.
Tiger Teams, Tours, Special Webinars, Conferences, Workshops: These resources are available for our members worldwide to tap into at their leisure. Some members are extremely active, while others are more passive. You have the flexibility to create your own Vistage experience.
"The Step by Step Process"
Step One: Fitz needs to meet with you to learn about you, your leadership, and your organization. She offers quaint, small breakfast meetups at LePeeps in Omaha several times a month, starting at 7:30 in the morning. Alternatively, you can book a private Zoom session with her or request an in-person meeting. There is NO SELLING allowed. Fitz has nothing to sell, and she is not connecting with you to be sold. This is about discovery and building context on who you are.
Step Two: Once you have met with Fitz, she will decide if you have what it takes to proceed to the next step and go through a selection interview. This interview takes about 90 minutes to 2 hours to complete. You don't need to prepare for it, and no bio or resume is needed. She will ask you questions (and there are no right or wrong answers). After you answer, she will share with you how the question relates to "being in a Vistage board." The goal of the selection interview is to see if you feel comfortable in a Peer Advisory Board setting and if it will stretch you and provide a great return on the investment of time and money. If Fitz offers you a seat on the board, you will be given a specific date to get back to her to determine if you will accept or reject the invitation to take a seat in her Vistage boardroom.
Step Three: If you accept a seat on a Vistage Peer Advisory Board, Fitz will immediately schedule your one-to-one sessions and begin the onboarding process. You will be requested to determine the month you will start your membership and inform your leadership team of the monthly date on your calendar when you will be meeting with your Vistage board. Fitz's CEO board currently meets on the First Thursday of every month in Omaha. Her members come from Nebraska, Iowa, and up to 3.5 hours away.
Note:
Periodically, Fitz hosts exclusive gatherings tailored for leaders and candidates navigating the discovery and interview process. These events are commonly held at her welcoming home in Bennington, NE, where she generously opens her doors for business meetings, retreats, and various gatherings. Fondly referred to as "The Heart Homestead," her residence serves as a hub for fostering connections and facilitating discussions. Additionally, Fitz organizes "Just Because Dinners," providing a space for individuals who exude Heart-based energy in their leadership and lifestyle to come together, bond, and engage in captivating conversations purely for the joy of it.
